alonetone gets a flash player and itunes support

January 15th, 2008 @ 04:59 PM

In the home stretch to bring alonetone to version 1 (yeah, I’ve been saying it for weeks, but we’re finally getting there, folks) alonetone gets a flash player.

That means? For any playlist on alonetone, click share, copy the code, and you get this:

and for single songs:

Exciting, eh?

Oh, and we’re dynamically generating podcasts for every user now. What fun! Submit them to apple, and in 3 days your latest music shows up in iTunes. Oooooooh.

The facebook application should be rolling in the next two weeks, and then I’m going to take a nice little vacation from programming in my free time and get back to the music.

I just signed up and have a few questions.

    1. How can you add comments on alonetome?

    2. How do you delete tracks?

    3. How can you add pics to your profile?

    4. How secure is this site as far as people trying to pinch your music?

    Thanks!

    Jannie

    Hey Jann.

I'll probably need to setup a little how-to to answer some of these questions. Thanks for taking the time to ask.

But here are some quick answers:

    1. To comment, click on the speech bubble that shows up next to a track when you roll over it.
    2. To delete your own track, click on the X that shows up next to a track when you roll over it.
    3. You can click "Your Profile" and then "Edit Your Profile" to change all your info and add a pic
    4. Um. Absolutely 0% secure. The point is people are supposed to pinch your music! You should only upload tracks that you want to share with the world and own the copyright to.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, but the flu bug paid a visit to my house.

Ummmmm.....I don't see an X when I roll over my tracks. I'm also not getting a speech bubble. Dang, you don't suppose it could have anything to do with having Vista, do you? ;)

Actually, it may very well be because I've done 0 testing to date on Internet Explorer. Bad me!

    Are you using IE?

I just got VMware, and I promise to make sure everything is working nicely for our IE users. The percentage of IE alonetoners is growing to 20%...

  • sudara on 17 Feb 06:29

ok, you are using IE7, where the javascript is broken and none of the fun stuff is working.

I'm ironing out alonetone on IE7 as of today, so hold on to your hats and you'll be able to alonetone like you've never alonetoned before.

Jann: It should be good to go now. Thanks for the feedback - it pushed me to pay attention to IE users!

    hey man,

IE testing on your birthday? :)

I've got a new skin coming up for the flash player.

    Hell yeah b.

A new alonetone flash player will be like serving up lattes with whipped cream (instead of torched 24-hour diner coffee)
